NY Urban League to Hold HBCU Virtual Fair Nov 14th in Partnership with the Malcolm Bernard HBCUCollege Fair Tour
The New York Urban League, NYUL, will host its 34th Annual Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Fair on Saturday, November 14, 2020, from 11:00 AM – 3:30 PM. This fair is presented in partnership with the Malcolm Bernard HBCU College Fair Tour and the New York Urban League Young Professionals with sponsorship from UPS. This year’s Fair will be presented virtually for the first time, using the GoToCollegeFairs.com platform. Students will have access to 40- 50 HBCU admissions representatives, alumni, and staff, along with college and scholarship resources. In addition, there will also be workshops and guest speakers with a focus on helping students gain the knowledge and tools to navigate the higher education process. The day will include interactive workshops on college admissions, applying for financial aid, researching scholarships, finding the right college, preparing for the first year in college, as well as meeting with HBCU representatives, some of which will provide on-site admissions, fee waivers and scholarship awards. New York Urban League (NYUL) Champions of Diversity (COD) Summit: Courageous Conversations aboutRace, Nov 20, 2020 1 pm EST and weeklong access
The New York Urban League (NYUL) will present the Champions of Diversity Virtual Summit, sponsored by BlackRock, on November 20, 2020 at 1:00pm EST and you are invited to become a corporate sponsor and attendee. The Summit will include both a one-hour live event and recorded conversations, featuring corporate CEOs, activists and academics, accessible that day and throughout the week. The program starts with welcoming Remarks by Arva Rice, President & CEO, New York Urban League and Hon. Scott M. New York Urban League to host 55th Annual Frederick Douglass Awards Virtual Gala, Mar 16The New York Urban League (NYUL) will celebrate its Centennial Anniversary at the 55th Annual Frederick Douglass Awards Virtual Gala on March 16, 2021. Vernon B. Jordan is the Honorary Chair. The legendary Hank Aaron, Michael Dowling (CEO, Northwell), Raymond J. McGuire (Vice Chairman, Citigroup), and Daniel Schulman (CEO, PayPal) will receive NYUL’s most coveted honor – the Frederick Douglass Award. Crystal McCrary will receive the Ann Kheel award, named for the civic leader and founder of the Frederick Douglass Awards Dinner. The Honorary Committee includes Billye Aaron, Harry Belafonte, Hon. David Dinkins, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Spike Lee, David Winfield, Cole Anthony and Ella Anthony. NYUL continually challenges the status quo and existing inequities of our society, and as one of the oldest civil rights organizations in New York City their impact has been felt for generations.
