Black U.S. leisure travelers spent $109.4 billion on travel in 2019 according to a report by MMGY Global “The Black Traveler: Insights, Opportunities & Priorities” and a December 8th webinar will present findings from Phase I of the study. The “Insights and Perspectives on the Black Traveler” webinar will be presented at 1 pm EST on December 8th by the DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Accessibility & Inclusion) Committee of The Society of American Travel Writers (SATW). The groundbreaking study was produced by MMGY Travel Intelligence in advocacy and support of Black travel organizations including the Black Travel Alliance (BTA), the National Coalition of Black Meeting Professionals (NCBMP) and the National Association of Black Hotel Owners, Operators, and Developers (NABHOOD). This session will reveal key insights from the study, including the power of the Black travel leisure and meetings markets, insights, and opportunities for content creators, journalists, and travel organizations to better understand the power of the Black Traveler. 20th Annual ANA Multicultural Excellence Awards – A Virtual Experience, Dec 16thJoin us on Wednesday, December 16th to celebrate two decades of multicultural marketing excellence! New York Urban League to host 55th Annual Frederick Douglass Awards Virtual Gala, Mar 16The New York Urban League (NYUL) will celebrate its Centennial Anniversary at the 55th Annual Frederick Douglass Awards Virtual Gala on March 16, 2021. Vernon B. Jordan is the Honorary Chair. The legendary Hank Aaron, Michael Dowling (CEO, Northwell), Raymond J. McGuire (Vice Chairman, Citigroup), and Daniel Schulman (CEO, PayPal) will receive NYUL’s most coveted honor – the Frederick Douglass Award. Crystal McCrary will receive the Ann Kheel award, named for the civic leader and founder of the Frederick Douglass Awards Dinner. The Honorary Committee includes Billye Aaron, Harry Belafonte, Hon. David Dinkins, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Spike Lee, David Winfield, Cole Anthony and Ella Anthony. NYUL continually challenges the status quo and existing inequities of our society, and as one of the oldest civil rights organizations in New York City their impact has been felt for generations. Gala sponsorships assist NYUL’s COVID-19 and educational response efforts, including providing resources and virtual programming to those affected by COVID-19, introducing a COVID-19 Emergency Fund, which provides grants to students and families in NYUL’s employment and youth services, volunteering at local food pantries, and other much-needed initiatives.
