Multicultural Marketing Resources, Inc. Will Open The Multicultural Marketing Resources Library & Museum For Advertising and Marketing Professionals
Library Will House Research Resources on Hispanic, Asian American, African American, Women, Gay/Lesbian And Other Cultural And Lifestyle Markets
New York City, June 22, 2000 – Multicultural Marketing Resources, Inc., a public relations and marketing company representing the leading experts in reaching the nation’s ethnic markets, announces plans to open the Multicultural Marketing Resources Library and Museum. The library, which will open in Summer 2000, will serve as a resource for both journalists as well as new and experienced marketers whose companies target the Hispanic, Asian American, African American, women, gay/lesbian and other cultural and lifestyle markets. The library will house basic demographic information on each market as well as relevant articles and information on best practices. Specific reports and studies, such as Strategy Research Corp’s US Hispanic Market Report, and the Asian American Media Directory will be available for examination. Library interns will be available to help in English, Russian, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese.
The Multicultural Marketing Resources Library and Museum will be a professional library, with visits by appointment only. Visitors will receive a free consultation on how to use the library materials and other resources to research a topic; they can then browse through files and shelves of information. A library visit is free as part of a “Marketer’s Package” from MMR, which includes a copy of The Source Book of Multicultural Experts, a goody bag of information from sponsors and a year-long subscription to Multicultural Marketing News, for only $175. Journalists may access the library at no charge for referrals to experts and other sources.
Additionally, free consultations will also be arranged between marketers and established experts in each of the target ethnic markets for those desiring more in-depth information. Industry experts in sports, entertainment, the Internet, financial services, etc. as they relate to the multicultural market are also available as information sources. The sponsors of the library are multicultural market experts including ethnic ad agencies, research firms, and ethnic media, among others, who will contribute literature and other information to be distributed to visitors. Additional sponsorships are still available.
“We decided to open the Library and Museum to formalize a service we were already offering on an ad hoc basis,” said Lisa Skriloff, President of Multicultural Marketing Resources, Inc. “We often get calls from marketers seeking answers to common ethnic marketing questions. Examples of questions we are asked, include ‘What is the buying power of the Hispanic Market?’ ‘What are the largest Asian American segments?” she said. These are questions that are easy to answer and can help a marketer get started in reaching the
influential and growing ethnic populations, she noted. “Additionally, through the new Library,
marketers can learn about suppliers and advertising opportunities without being overwhelmed,” she said.
The library will also house a mini-museum of multicultural products from the collection of founder Lisa Skriloff. The library/museum hopes to grow its collection and invites contributions of products developed specifically for ethnic markets, samples of advertising aimed at ethnic communities, research studies, business books and historical documents related to the early days of multicultural marketing.
