ADCOLOR and Adweek Announce New Platforms to Highlight Diversity

New Platforms to Highlight Diversity
NEW YORK, NY (October 22, 2018) – Today, ADCOLOR, the premier organization dedicated to celebrating diversity in creative industries, and Adweek, the leading news and events resource serving the advertising and marketing community, announced the creation of two new platforms launching in 2019 to recognize and honor diverse talent within the industry: the Champions list and the Vanguard Award.
In spring 2019, the inaugural ADCOLOR/Adweek Champions program will be announced. The Champions will represent diverse professionals who are committed to mentorship and reaching back. These Champions will be jointly selected by ADCOLOR and Adweek, will be listed in a special Adweek issue and will be honored at a cocktail reception in New York City.
In addition, ADCOLOR and Adweek will present the inaugural Vanguard Award at the 2019 ADCOLOR Awards. The honor will go to a recognized public figure who uses their celebrity to champion a cause or challenge the status quo, creating catalytic change and setting the stage for current and future generations to excel. The Vanguard Award recipient will also be featured on a special cover of Adweek.
“ADCOLOR is grateful for the opportunity to expand our relationship with Adweek by co-creating and launching these exciting new programs,” said Tiffany R. Warren, Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, Omnicom Group, and Founder and President, ADCOLOR. “Now more than ever before, we must recognize diverse leaders across our industries. With its reach and editorial excellence, Adweek is an ideal partner for us to amplify these change agents.”
“Adweek looks forward to launching the Champions honor and Vanguard Award in partnership with ADCOLOR in the coming year,” said Lisa Granatstein, Editor, Senior Vice President, Programming, Adweek. “We are thrilled to highlight diverse leaders who are transforming major brands and disrupting advertising with their creativity and perspective.”
These new platforms build upon the organizations’ existing partnership. Currently, Adweek runs a special section each September during the annual ADCOLOR Conference and Awards and will continue to in 2019.
Additional details on the Champions honor and the Vanguard Award will be publicized by January 2019.
