Multicultural Travel News

Multicultural Travel News newsletter (MTN) covers travel news of interest to ethnic and niche travelers and those who market to them. We write about destinations that interest multicultural travelers or have outreach campaigns to travelers of Hispanic, African American, Asian American and other cultural backgrounds; women; gays/lesbians and people with disabilities.
Published bi-monthly, MTN is written for leisure and business travelers looking for what to see and do and for marketing executives interested in ideas, best practices and the business case for targeting so-called "minority" travelers. Each issue includes content about cities and countries, hotels, airlines, cruise lines, convention and visitor bureaus, tour operators and other travel marketers with a multicultural angle. Multicultural Travel news is written and edited by Lisa Skriloff.

News blurb: "Celebrate Orgullo" To Showcase LGBT Hispanic Pride during Hispanic Heritage Month

"Orgullo" is Spanish for "Pride," and on Saturday, October 1, the first-ever "Celebrate Orgullo" event celebrates the diverse cultural heritage and contributions of South Florida's LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) Hispanic community. The event will feature musical performances, folkloric dance, celebrity guests, drag performers, refreshments and vendor booths representing both the non-for-profit and business community. With Hispanics in Miami-Dade County comprising 65% of the total population, (2010 U.S. Census), Hispanic Heritage Month is widely popular in South Florida, with a myriad of events taking place throughout the month long celebration. There are a significant amount of LGBT and LGBT-friendly supporters in South Florida, and many are Hispanic. Coincidently, the theme for Hispanic Heritage Month 2011 is: "Heritage, Diversity, Integrity and Honor: The Renewed Hope of America," therefore it is especially timely that the first Celebrate Orgullo will truly celebrate the diversity of Miami's community. Celebrate Orgullo® is a grassroots effort, conceived and implemented by a group of volunteers who decided that it was time for Miami Beach to lead the way in honoring the cultural contributions of the LGBT Hispanic community.
